SG50 NDP Fireworks, The Actual Day

Sharing some SG50 firework photos taken at "Gardens by the Bay (East) Park Connector". Together with Sam and Yin Leng, we reached there about 4.45pm trying to find a good view for the fireworks. It was too late as the good and easy access spot already occupied by early birds. So we got no choice but to go through the bushes and setup our tripod near the sea bay. It was not easy setting up there as the sea bay is sloping down towards the sea but we're enjoying viewing the sea and fireworks with sea breeze blowing at us. Oh! what a National Day. :)

I dedicate these pictures to our late founding father Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. Even though he is not with us this 50th National Day, he is always in our memory. Without you there won't be SG50. Happy 50th National Day, Mr. Lee. May your spirit always be with us.

Garden by the Bay, 4th

Sharing some macro photos taken at Garden by the Bay. Today supposed to be Oaks Training macro photography outing at Admiralty Park with our participants, but unfortunately it was raining very heavy. Since I'm the leader, I've to take responsibility to come to the meeting area which is at Woodland MRT (even it is raining cats and dogs) to wait for the rest of the participants and hoping the rain will stop. But it ended up cancelling the outing because the rain doesn't stop.

Luckily the heavy rain doesn't stop my two colleagues, Yin Leng and Sherie from coming to Woodland MRT. I've to THANKS them from being supportive even it was raining so heavy. Since we're already out from home with our photography gears, we don't want the day to be wasted. So we decided to take a train to Garden by the Bay (since the place is being sheltered) to take flowers and plants. I also take this opportunity to test my custom diffuser, version 3.

Free Macro Photography Outing

I'm organizing and collaborating with Oaks Training, an outing for macro photography shooting this 4th of July 2015 at Admiralty Park (Singapore). This FREE outing is open for public as well as participants who have attended any courses at Oaks Training. If you're puzzling whether you're suitable for macro shooting or don't even know what is macro, this is a chance for you to try and experience macro shooting. Not only this is a FREE outing, our trainers from Oaks Training will guide you and give you tips. You'll also have a short briefing on what camera settings to use during shooting, like ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.

Please note that I've postpone the date from 20/06/2015 to 04/07/2015 due to the SEA game. Thanks for your understanding.

FAQ:

Who is suitable for this outing?

  1. People who have already started to take pictures with their camera (with or without macro knowledge)
  2. People who are already good in shooting macro and wanted to guide the participants or just want to join and have fun
  3. People who love the nature, flowers, and not afraid of insects

What equipments must I have in order to join this outing?

  1. A DSLR camera with macro lens (recommended)
  2. A DSLR camera without macro lens but with either a kit lens or a zoom lens (at least a 50mm lens)
  3. No DSLR camera but with a point-and-shoot camera capable of shooting close-up (not mobile phone or tab)
Those of you who have a DSLR camera but without a dedicated macro lens and wish to try out without investing at the moment, you can rent a macro lens at the following links:

  1. For Canon users, check out www.lens4lease.com/equipment/canon/ (Lens Model: Canon EF 100mm f2.8L Macro USM)
  2. For Nikon users, ckeck out www.lens4lease.com/equipment/nikon/ (Lens Model: NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED or Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di 1:1 Macro)
  3. For Sony users, check out www.sony.com.sg/microsite/alphalenslibrary/ (Lens Model: SAL100M28 for A-mount cameras, and SEL30M35 for E-mount cameras)

Come and have fun and get a feel of what macro photography is like. It will opens up the way you look at things. Things that you can't see with your naked eyes.

After the outing, if you're really interested in macro photography, you can approach me or any trainers and we can advice you on what macro equipments you should invest in.

Remembering Mr. Lee Kuan Yew

I'm sadden by the news of our founding father, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, who has passed away this morning. Even though I've not met him face-to-face, I've always regard him as my "Father". Without him, there will be no SINGAPORE.

He love his people, therefore he has sacrificed his entire life building this new nation "SINGAPORE", to give us a home, hope, happiness and prosperity, regardless of race, language and religion. He is a great and visionary man. He is a Singapore treasure and no one can replace him.

Every National Day, I'm excited and happy to see him coming out from the gallery knowing he is still in good health. But now, he left us. He will be in my memory forever.

Thank you Mr. Lee Kuan Yew for what you have done for Singapore. I'm really grateful to you. Goodbye Mr. Lee and rest in peace.

Love you forever.
